The national audit included a search for key out-of-home care documents produced by federal, state and territory governments and non-government child welfare service organisations. While these documents do not generally report on research efforts, they do provide important descriptive data about the child welfare population and child welfare services and are a useful supplementary source of data for the national audit. It is rare to find all of these reports listed in one place. By bringing them together, this audit also provides a vital set of references for future researchers and commentators on child welfare matters. What emerges is a set of common themes that run across the ten-year period 1995-2004 ; , and that are shared by all States and Territories. One overall theme gained particular attention, and this was a concern with service system failures and restructuring, supply and demand issues, and inquiries into critical incidents and reviews of service arrangements. Other themes included: foster care recruitment and retention funding and costing models of foster care alternative care including kinship care prevention of re-entry into care accreditation and standards for out-of-home care services long-term outcomes for children and young people especially education outcomes for children and young people after leaving care over-representation of Indigenous children in the out-of-home care system. Constipation is a nonspecific symptom reported by patients who have slow transit of the colon, impaired defecation and straining, or a sensitive colon that causes a bloated feeling and a desire to defecate without result.40, 41 Fiber supplements such as psyllium seed, methylcellulose, and polycarbophil relieve constipation by accelerating stool transit and facilitating defecation. Fiber is unlikely to offer relief for bloating in patients with normal stool frequency. Fiber is also less likely to work for constipation in those with very slow colonic transit e.g., more than five days between movements ; . In this situation, long-term use of an osmotic laxative is effective and safe. Magnesium salts, phosphate salts, and polyethylene glycolbased laxatives are effective when taken on a scheduled basis or as needed, and tachyphylaxis is rare.42, 43 Nonabsorbed carbohydrate laxatives such as sorbitol and lactulose are effective but expensive and can promote the formation of gas, which many patients find uncomfortable and difficult to expel.25, 42 Stimulant cathartics such as bisacodyl and senna are more likely than and bosentan.

Exegetical insights of Jacob Licht. These theories were subsequently expanded upon by George W. E. Nickelsburg, whose form-critical arguments continue to dominate scholarship on the text. This view maintains that the original composition was written during the persecution of Antiochus Epiphanes and was redacted shortly after 4 b.c.e. According to this interpretation, the Herodian-period redactor turned the account of the Antiochan period in chs. 89 into an eschatological vision by inserting chs. 67, which mention Herod and his sons.11 Nickelsburg, largely following Licht, proposed that the apparent vividness in chs. 89 demonstrates that they were composed by an eyewitness to Antiochus's persecutions. According to his thesis, once the Herodian material chs. 67 ; is excised, then the surrounding chapters 5, 810 ; display the same fourfold pattern of sin, punishment, turning point, and salvation as chs. 24. Recognizing the similarities between the Taxo story and 1 Maccabees 2 and 2 Maccabees 7, Nickelsburg also postulates a common source for these latter two books, which he takes to be closely related to the Testament of Moses.12 The consensus interpretation has been challenged by a few scholars, most recently John Priest and Johannes Tromp, who have sought to maintain the text's literary integrity and defend a first-century c.e. date for the entire composition.13 This debate, whether the Testament of Moses is an expanded version of an earlier Antiochan-era document or an original composition that was written during the Herodian period, must first be resolved in order to understand the author's use of the theme of the wilderness as well as the roles that Taxo and the nuntius play in bringing about the eschaton and botox.

The second feature was just drawing to the climax when an usher came down the aisle. He was stopping at every row and looked peeved. Finally, he stopped at ours. He swept the flashlight down the row and asked * "Mr. Gerad? Daniel Gerad?" "Yes" I asked, feeling guilt and fear run through me. "There's a gentleman on the phone, sir. He says it's a matter of life or death." Vicki gave me a startled look and I followed the usher hurriedly. That let out the police. I mentally took stock of my only remaining relatives. Aunt Polly, Grandma Phibbs and my great-uncle Charlie. They were all healthy as far as I knew. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I picked up the telephone and heard Rankin's voice. He spoke rapidly and a raw note of fear was in his voice. "Get out here, right now! We need " There were sounds of a a scuffle, a muffled scream, then a click and the empty dial tone. I hung, up and hurried back for Vicki. "Come on, " I said. She followed without questioning me. At first I wanted to drive her back to the motel but the muffled scream made me decide that this was an emergency. I didn't like either Rankin or Weinbaum, but I knew I would have to help them. We took off. "What is it?" Vicki asked anxiously as I stamped on the go-pedal and let the car unwind. "Look, " I said, "something tells me that you've got your secrets about your guardian. I've got some of my own. Please, don't ask." She didn't say another word.
