The factorization method as developed by Tomasi and Kanade relies on the matching of a set of features along the image sequence. This task is di cult when processing noisy videos. In general, only distinguished points, as brightness corners, are used as \trackable" feature points. As a consequence, the approach of Tomasi and Kanade does not provide dense depth estimates. Under our more general scenario, rather than describing the 3D shape by the set of 3D positions of the feature points, we parameterize the shape of the object surface and show that this parameterization induces a parametric model for the 2D motion of the brightness pattern in the image plane. Instead of tracking pointwise features, we track larger regions where the image motion is described by a single set of parameters. To recover in an expedite way the 3D motion and 3D shape parameters from the image motion parameters, we introduce the surface-based factorization, a generalization of the original factorization method. Another relevant feature of our method concerns its computational simplicity. By making an appropriate linear subspace projection, we nd the unknown 3D structure by factorizing a matrix that is rank 1 in a noiseless situation, rather than a rank 3 matrix as in the original factorization method of Tomasi and Kanade. This allows the use of faster iterative algorithms to compute the matrix that best approximates the data. We propose a nal step that re nes the estimate of the 3D shape given by the surfacebased factorization method by computing the 3D shape directly from the image intensity values through Maximum Likelihood ML ; estimation. To overcome the di culties in estimating 3D structure through the 2D motion induced onto the image plane, some researchers have used techniques that infer 3D structure directly from the image intensity values. Horn and Weldon estimate directly the 3D structure parameters by using the brightness change constraint between two consecutive frames, see reference 29] . Heel builds on this work by using a Kalman lter to update the estimates over time, see reference 28]. We address the recovery of 3D structure from a video sequence by using the analogy with the communications system, as presented in chapter 1. The ML estimation of the unknowns involved leads to the minimization of a cost function expressed in terms. CIRCUIT BREAKERS, RECLOSERS, AND CABLE Circuit breakers, reclosers, and cable are used primarily by electric utilities in the transmission and distribution of electric power to protect other equipment in the electric power system from damage caused by electrical faults. Circuit breakers, reclosers, and cable are types of oilfilled electrical equipment generally not designed to contain PCBs. However, available data indicate that a small percentage of this electrical equipment does in fact contain PCBs resulting from past servicing and manufacturing practices. One very important difference between circuit breakers, reclosers, and cable is that they are not required to be "assumed" PCB-Contaminated Electrical Equipment as are other untested, oil-filled units such as transformers and voltage regulators whose PCB concentration is unknown. That is to say, circuit breakers, reclosers, and cable have specifically been excluded from the "Assumption Rule" [761.3]. Systemic vascular resistance data, which depend in part upon systemic blood flow measurements, are also suspect for these reasons. In addition, the theoretical limitations of the concept of a single figure as a representation of systemic vascular resistance in a complex circulation consisting of several parallel circuits, each of a different capacity and resistance, are well known. For these reasons, data for systemic blood flow and vascular resistance are of reasonable reliability only at rest. Exercise values for these measures, as well as for shunts of blood between the greater and lesser circulations, are included to indicate probable trends. The remarkably low resting-sitting cardiac output of three of the four patients with severely elevated pulmonary vascular resistance is a striking feature of these results. This finding differs from the observations of Swan, Marshall, and Wood, 2 whose patients with high PVR had normal resting systemic flow in the supine position. In each instance the opening of new vascular channels in exercising muscle greatly lowered high systemic vascular resistance. This occurrence, together with the small rise in pulmonary resistance taking place during exercise in some of these patients, resulted in a sizable increase in the amount of blood shunted from right to left across the ventricular septal defect. Thus, unlike patients with congestive heart failure, in whom the low resting cardiac output fails to rise normally with exercise, 13 these patients enjoyed a normal rate of rise of systemic blood flow during work in the upright position. Since much of this increment in blood flow originated as systemic venous blood shunted from right to left across the ventricular septal defect, arterial oxygen saturation dropped sharply. As in the patients of Swan, Marshall, and Wood, the ratio of pulmonary blood flow to systemic blood flow fell during exercise. Pulmonary vascular resistance rose in patients 6 and 7, but in patients 8 and 9 the trend was more difficult to discern. The exercise response of three of our patients with low pulmonary artery pressure consisted of a fall in PVR. At exercise patient 3 showed a small. Skin grafts are either free grafts or pedicle flaps. For a free graft, tissue is taken from a part of the body and grafted on somewhere else; the tissue loses its original blood supply and is entirely dependent on the good vascular perfusion of the new area. Osteoblast differentiation and mineralization were increased in bone marrow cultures from PYK2 mice compared with control. Knockdown of PYK2 with shRNA increased osteoblast differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells, supporting a role for PYK2 as a negative regulator of the osteoblastic lineage. A recent study by Kim et al. 10 ; provides insight into the role of PYK2 in osteoblasts. In a bone injury repair model of transgenic mice deleted for FAK expression in osteoblasts, osteoprogenitor cells migrated to sites of skeletal injury but displayed delayed osteoblast maturation and bone repair. Under the proposal, the endorsement may be granted to a candidate who i ; has completed an approved teacher preparation program in ASL, ii ; has completed a major in ASL or 24 semester hours above the intermediate level in ASL, along with three semester hours of methods of teaching foreign languages, or iii ; holds a valid certification in ASL and has earned at least three semester hours in methods of teaching foreign languages from an accredited college or university in the United States. Note, the department does not give any indication why applicants are limited to those with training in the United States. This restriction will probably limit the available pool of teachers and may unnecessarily reduce any potential benefits of this proposal. In assessing the economic impact of this proposed change it would be useful to know how many schools currently teach ASL classes and what percentage of ASL teachers would already qualify for an endorsement. The Department of Education does not collect this information. It is possible that this new provision could have the unintended effect of reducing the supply of ASL teachers and reducing the number of ASL classes taught. In particular, the requirement that even certified signers will need to take three semester hours of foreign language teaching methods could reduce the available supply of sign teachers.
