The absence of the amniotic fluid also removes the major protection of the foetus against infection. Rupture of the amnion may cause various fetal abnormalities that constitute the Amniotic Band Syndrome ABS ; or Amniotic Band Disruption Complex ABDC ; . These anomalies vary from digital constriction to major scalp, craniofacial and visceral defects Callen & Filly, 1990 ; The cause of these anomalies is probably related to constriction by encircling amniotic bands Moore & Persuad, 1998 ; . ABS is a sporadic condition that occurs in approximately 1 : 1200 to 1 : 15000 live births Quintero et al, 1997 ; . The calculated incidence for amniotic constriction band sequence with significant limb involvement was 0.19 in 10, 000 live births Froster & Baird, 1993 ; We present a case of a newborn female child with bilateral annular amniotic constriction bands at the wrist and the ankle joints associated with talipes equinovarus. The deformities in the various fingers and toes included partial and total amputations.
